Explosion at Mosque in Afghan Capital Leaves Multiple Casualties

KABUL—A large explosion in the Afghan capital on Wednesday killed 21 people, the police said Thursday, coming in the week that the Taliban celebrated the first anniversary of their takeover of the country.

The bombing of a mosque during evening prayers in northern Kabul killed its imam, a pro-Taliban religious cleric, Mawlawi Amir Mohammad Kabuli, according to government media. He also ran an Islamic school at the site.
