Second Round of Funding for OER to be Split Between SUNY and CUNY

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that $8 million has been allocated for the Open Educational Resources Initiative at SUNY and CUNY, cutting the high cost of textbooks for students. For the second year in a row, the Governor is providing the Open Educational Resources funding to SUNY and CUNY, where book costs totaling as much as $1,200 a year can be prohibitive for students. OER offers freely available, high-quality books and other materials that can be downloaded, edited and shared.
